The Top 10 Mistakes in The Fat Loss Game

1.Fat Loss Versus Weight-loss

 

Most people don’t realise that what they are actually trying to lose is fat not weight per say. Losing weight is relatively easy, losing fat requires a scientific and structured approach . Be very wary of any person or system who measures your progress by scale weight alone.

 

  1. Only focusing on exercise .

Sumo wrestlers train on average 8 hours a day!

 

  1. Only focusing on diet.

 

There are 4 main pathways to get results like the 4 legs of a stool. Exercise, nutrition, lifestyle and nutrient support. Miss one leg and the whole system collapses.

 

  1. Failing to mentally prepare.

 

You need to have a strategy mapped out. Clear goals and some form of accountability to make sure you achieve those goals in a timely fashion.

 

  1. Failing to emotionally prepare.

 

If you don’t have some form of emotional wellness strategy in place you will head straight for the biscuit tin as soon as some emotional stressor crops up in your life.

 

  1. Making up your own approach.

 

Somebody once said ;

” a person who represents himself in court has an idiot for a client”.

Winging it yourself is very hit and miss as witnessed by the fact that 95% of dieters will regain all of their weight loss in one year or less. Do you really think you will know more than a person who studies the science of exercise and nutrition full time for over 20 years???

This creates what I call “the elastic band effect”.

Force yourself in a new direction too rapidly and bam! The you just snap, you binge , you fall off your plan.

 

  1. Following standard government guidelines .

 

If you follow the food pyramid you are well on your way to looking like one of the sumo wrestlers mentioned earlier.

 

  1. Believing media hype on weight-loss.

 

Do you really believe the drop a jeans size by eating breakfast cereal advertising? Pigs and cattle are fattened the most rapidly by putting them on a grain based diet. The funny thing is it works like a charm to fatten humans also!

 

  1. Jumping from one plan to the next.

 

For every diet out there there will be some people who have had great success and many who failed on it. The biggest secret of all time is the ability to stay consistent. Before you start any diet ask yourself ” can I see myself eating this way for the rest of my life”?
