Bio-Individualisation: The Future of Nutrition Today

 

We are living in a world where the wind changing is what decides the direction that a person will go with regard to their health and fitness. I spoke last week about the fad and fashion of the fitness industry and how Boot Camps and Cross Fit were the latest fashion. People who are not the centre of their own universe will always be influenced by what is happening en mass. These people who are not the centre of their own universe will always be swayed by someone who they perceive has a more powerful argument. They will be swayed easily by the latest fad. I discussed this more in “The Dabbler, The Hacker and The Master” Blog.

How can you claim and own the power and the might that you really are with respect to your Nutrition? I use two approaches which I collectively call the Art and Science of Bio-Individualisation.

Bio-Individualised Nutrition.

In the future all nutrition will be Bio-Individualised. Right now most health conscious individuals will select their nutrition based on what is trending right now. So if you are not fasting or eliminating all forms of sugar from your diet you’re just not hip to the groove. The problem with this approach is that it will work well for some, not at all for others and a few will get royally screwed. I was just listening to a nutrition coach talking about his experiments with fasting and some elements worked really well for him and his male clients but his female clients got really metabolically messed up and lost weight initially only to gain double back.

The Science of Bio-individualised Nutrition

Science can help us to avoid some of the disaster of mass nutritional consensus. There are many specialised tests available today that can lift the veil on what’s really going on in your body. Certain food sensitivity tests (most that are advertised to you are only about 40% accurate and fail to assess the most important markers of food sensitivity) can help dramatically reduce inflammation. You can have Blood, Urine and Salivary analysis to test for nutrient deficiency, toxicity and hormonal imbalance. Your nutrition and supplement program can then be geared to exactly what your body requires.

The Art of Bio-Individualised Nutrition.

The Art of nutrition comes from Bio-feedback. In an ideal world we would not require any testing because all of our nutrition would be purely instinctual. Our bodies, when we are in touch with them work off of instinct. As a species Human Beings have not had this high level of body awareness for many thousands of years. The only time we “hear” our bodies is when they give a last cry for help in terms of extreme tiredness, depression or cravings. Also our instinctual capacities are very scrambled due to high levels of toxicity in our bodies, faulty neurotransmitter balance, hormonal mayhem and a belief system that tells us we must eat x, y, z.

How many vegetarians and vegans out there are REALLY listening to their bodies? How many are making the choice to eat x, y, z because their body instinctually asks for it? How many are making food choices based on a belief as opposed to a true awareness of what their bodies require?

 

Metabolic Typing

 One of the systems I use with my clients comes under the “Art of Bio-individualisation”. This system is Metabolic Typing. After the Metabolic Type has been assessed the individual in question is trained in the art of Bio-Feedback. We listen to the signs and signals that indicate better Satiation, Mood, Alertness, Clarity and Energy. It is a process of fine tuning to get the right foods and food combinations for you as a unique being. Bio feedback is like a muscle that needs to be flexed. The more you practice the better you get.

Specialised testing can help you cut to the chase with the greatest elements that are derailing your health and energy. The long term approach will include a combination of scientific analysis and day today Biofeedback as to how the body is responding to the program.

So instead of jumping on board the latest fad diet why not decide to make your whole approach to nutrition and health customised to the uniqueness of you?  After all the future is Bio-Individualised!
